Cost of sack of nearby rice rose 152% to N95,738 in one year - NBS

The cost of a pack (50 kg) neighborhood rice rose year-on-year by 152.9 percent to N95,738 in September 2024 from N37,853 in September 2023, as per new information from the Public Department of Measurements, NBS.

The NBS report named 'Chose Food Value Watch' for September 2024 showed that the cost of 1 kilogram (Kg) of neighborhood rice remained at N1,914.77 during the one year time frame and that the cost of beans recorded higher development rate at more than 200%, YoY.

The NBS report expressed: "The typical cost of 1kg Neighborhood rice sold free went up by 152.92 percent on a year-on-year premise from N757.06 in September 2023 to N1,914.77 in September 2024, while there was an increment of 4.57 percent on a month-on-month premise.

"Likewise, the typical cost of 1kg of hamburger boneless expanded by 99.99 percent on a year-on-year premise from N2,816.91 in September 2023 to N5,633.60 in September 2024.

"On a month-on-month premise, it expanded by 1.44 percent from N5,553.80 in August 2024. The typical cost of 1kg beans brown (sold free) remained at N2,738.59. This shows an ascent of 281.97% in cost on a year-on-year premise from N716.97 kept in September 2023 and a 6.37 percent ascend in cost on a month-on-month premise from N2,574.63 in August 2024.

"Agric eggs medium size (12 piece) experienced huge cost increments year on year by N137.43 percent from N1,047.47 in September of last year (2023) to N2,487.04 in September 2024.
